The weather has been cool in April which has slowed
development. Be sure to compare development on your own farm for both
Apothecia and Bud Development.
Early varieties (Duke) - 10 % F2 stage
Mid-season Varieties (Draper, Bluegold)- Bud swell -bud
scale separation
Late Varieties (Burlington, Liberty) - Bud Swell- bud scale separation
Spray timings for Monilinia Blight should target 40% of buds
at F2 stage with active apothecia to give fungicide coverage through periods of
free moisture.
The weather forecast continues to be cool which will slow
plant development. Currently, there is a large amount of rain forecast
for Saturday into Sunday.
At this time there were no active apothecia observed at my Monilinia
Blight observation sites from Waterville to Aylesford. I will re-check
these sites before the weekend and update the blog.
